Note; changes can be made and shows added...
>ORIGAMI ARKTIKA start out with their organic ambient. Based on carpets of
>lo-frequencies and subtle percussive patterns, and by manipulating
>acoustic instruments through simple effects, they create a very intimate
>form of ambient or spatial music. No synths nor techno, so a humane
>atmosphere. Their set is approximately 40 minutes. ORIGAMI ARKTIKA is the
>fraction that has been around Europe the most, spreading their 'modern
>myth & folklore' to audiences not used to such evocative music. They have
>been naked on stage more than once, they got famous for being nude on the
>Slovak National TV News. They are likely to include fire, incense, body
>paint or other visual effects in their performances. In 1996 Origami
>Arktika released the cd Sondring, and later supported Swans on their final
>tour, which made Michael Gira (ex-Swans) decide to put out a split-cd with
>ORIGAMI ARKTIKA and Deathprod on his Young God Records label late 1998.
>[OHM] Records in Norway will release their latest studio-cd FAQUL, in the
>print right now. In 1994 ORIGAMI ARKTIKA And Deathprod put out a split-cd
>entitled Lat Att Grinda, now deleted.
>
>--- There will be a 15 minute break, maybe with a local dj or band.
>
>ORIGAMI REPLIKA will then show you a very different side of music when
>they trash the night with their SchMerzPunkDaDa concept, a final
>degeneration of rock, punk and techno clichies. All is set for a humorous
>and sarcastic show mixing beats, lyrics and physical action into a blast
>of harsh noise seldomly seen or heard. The set includes both musical and
>lyrical 'quotes' from the entire history of rock, punk and techno, with a
>ton of references. This show were really successful at their UK-tour last
>september, where they also supported Einst|rzende Neubauten in front of
>almost 3000 people. On the tour they were nude, handing out flowers and
>candy to the audience. ORIGAMI REPLIKA will release their first of many
>SchMerzPunkDaDa releases on Jazzassin Records in Norway in good time for
>the tour; a cd-single clocking in over 175 minutes of trash music and
>various cut-ups and collages. Later in 98 a full-length LP of the more
>techno-related schmerzpunk will be released on The Disaster Area in
>Germany. Two ORIGAMI REPLIKA remake-cd's of legendary 'noise' bands -
>Merzbow and Kapotte Muziek - will show up during 98. ORIGAMI REPLIKA puts
>a definite end to socalled 'subversive' music, and you might laugh your
>head off. They will ROCK you for about half an hour.
>
>By presenting two such different approaches to a live concert at the same
>night, we will hopefully show you two extremes of the international
>cultural network ORIGAMI REPUBLIKA, and also present 'something for
>everyone'. ORIGAMI REPUBLIKA now count over 130 members in 19 countries
>working with all kinds of 'easy media', not only in music, but also mail
>art, poetry, graphics, installations, theatre, political actions, debates,
>cassettes, ad infinitum...

Dave, as you may know, has been on a rough road tour. He hadn't been feeling well for about a week or two, but was commited to sticking the tour out. Shortly before playing a gig in New York, Dave checked into a hotel room, too sick to play that night.....Drew Fitgerald played solo for not breathing that night, a sad portent of things to come. After the gig, Drew went back to the hotel room, where he waited outside Dave's door for an hour, before having the security guards open up the room. Dave had trashed the place, and was huddled in the corner, delusional. An ambulance was called, and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with severe spinal meningitis. Shortly thereafter, he lost conciousness. Spinal meningitis, (for those who dont know) can cause severe brain damage, heart failure, severe delusions, and (if not treated quickly enough) long term coma and/or death. As of last night, (4/6/97) he has been non-responsive for several days, and is on machines to feed him, breathe for him, etc. They are trying to restore him to awareness and "induce" conciousness as soon as possible to limit the dangers of severe brain damage. His breathing has stopped at least once for 40 seconds (hence the machine) and he is in the intensive care unit under 24 hour surveillance, to guard against additional heart/resperatory failure. His mother, father, and other loved ones are at his bedside, in support. On his behalf, everyone is asked to send/channel/direct love, prayers, positive energy and anything else that will help to get him back into conciousness and begin healing. The more people involved, the better. -Ron Chmara (electric soma keys for nb)Show
